From a historic family estate in the village of Barbaresco, Cavanna is a distinctive single-vineyard expression grown on west- to southwest-facing slopes overlooking the Tanaro River. The 2022 combines the warmth of the vintage with the site’s naturally perfumed, traditionally structured style, shaped by extended maceration and maturation in large Slavonian oak.
Blend: 100% Nebbiolo, Lampia clone.
Tasting Notes: Fragrant aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry and dried rose emerge alongside orange peel, anise, savory herbs and a subtle earthy undertone. The palate is medium-bodied and finely detailed, with bright acidity, firm Nebbiolo tannins and a lingering finish of red fruit, spice and mineral nuance.
Structure: Elegant and traditionally styled, with vibrant acidity, finely assertive tannins and excellent aging potential.
Drink Window: 2026–2036
Decanting: Decant for 60–90 minutes when served young to soften the tannins and allow the wine’s floral and savory complexity to unfold. Older bottles should be opened carefully and decanted briefly for sediment.
A compelling Barbaresco for collectors who value perfume, transparency and classical structure over sheer weight. It will pair beautifully with braised beef, roasted game, truffle dishes or aged cheeses, while its balance and pedigree make it equally well suited to thoughtful cellaring or a special dinner.
