Domaine Drouhin-Laroze is a historic Gevrey-Chambertin estate whose holdings extend across some of the Côte de Nuits’ most celebrated terroirs. The “Dix Climats” cuvée draws on multiple village parcels to capture a broad expression of Gevrey, and the 2023 vintage delivers an especially fresh, energetic interpretation with attractive aromatic definition and finely judged structure.
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes: Fresh raspberry, blackberry and redcurrant lead the bouquet, joined by subtle floral tones, forest earth and a gentle sauvage character. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, with polished red and dark berry fruit, lively acidity and refined tannins carrying through a lightly earthy, delicately savory finish.
Structure: Medium-bodied, fresh and elegant, with fine tannins, energetic fruit and enough underlying structure to develop gracefully in bottle.
Drink Window: 2026–2038. Enjoyable from 2026 with a short decant, with greater aromatic and textural complexity developing from 2028 onward.
Decanting: If opening young, decant for approximately 45–60 minutes to allow the fruit and aromatics to broaden. With several years of bottle age, a shorter, gentle decant should be sufficient.
A refined introduction to serious Gevrey-Chambertin, the 2023 Dix Climats combines the appellation’s characteristic dark-fruited depth and earthy complexity with a notably graceful, energetic profile. It is an appealing bottle to enjoy at the table in its youth with some air, while also offering the balance and pedigree to reward thoughtful cellaring over the coming decade.
