Joseph Drouhin’s Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a historic, approximately two-hectare holding within Montrachet, one of Burgundy’s most celebrated white wine vineyards. Owned by the de Laguiche family and cultivated by Maison Joseph Drouhin under a longstanding arrangement, this parcel produces Chardonnay distinguished by its combination of concentration, precision and remarkable persistence. The 2023 vintage brings generous fruit and a supple texture, balanced by the mineral definition and structural refinement expected of Montrachet at this level.
Blend: 100% Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes: Ripe white peach, pear and citrus zest unfold alongside white flowers, toasted hazelnut and subtle pastry notes. The palate is concentrated and finely layered, with orchard fruit, lemon oil and delicate spice supported by a savory mineral undertone. A long, expansive finish reveals impressive persistence without sacrificing freshness or definition.
Structure: Full-bodied yet remarkably composed, with a dense, layered mid-palate, integrated acidity and a distinctive balance of richness and tension. The wine’s concentration is matched by its length and precision, giving it the structure for extended bottle development.
Drink Window: 2030–2045. Although approachable earlier with careful aeration, this young Montrachet deserves additional cellar time to develop greater aromatic complexity and fully integrate its fruit, oak and mineral character.
