2023 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County - 750ML

Merry Edwards is widely considered the "Queen of Pinot Noir," but her Sauvignon Blanc is arguably her most legendary creation. It completely subverts the expectation of what Sauvignon Blanc "should" taste like.

• The "Musqué" Clone: Unlike most California producers, Merry Edwards uses a specific clone called Sauvignon Musqué. This adds exotic, floral notes (like gardenia and white peach) rather than the usual green, herbal notes.
• The Texture: Most Sauvignon Blanc is made in steel tanks to stay light. Merry Edwards barrel-ferments this wine in French oak and uses lees stirring (mixing the yeast sediment). This creates a creamy, lush, and weighty mouthfeel that mimics a high-end Chardonnay.
• Longevity: While most Sauvignon Blancs should be drunk within a year, the 2023 Merry Edwards is built to age. It will develop complex notes of beeswax and honeyed ginger over the next 3–5 years.
