Produced at Antinori’s Castello della Sala estate near Orvieto, Bramìto della Sala is a polished Umbrian expression of Chardonnay and an accessible introduction to an estate particularly noted for its white wines. The balanced 2024 growing season preserved freshness through a warm late summer, yielding a Chardonnay that combines ripe fruit and texture with the mineral, savory character associated with the estate.
Blend: Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes: Williams pear, lime and floral notes lead into toasted hazelnut, fresh butter and subtle brioche. The palate is harmonious and well balanced, with ripe fruit, fresh acidity and a savory mineral quality, finishing with delicate almond notes and persistent freshness.
Structure: Medium-bodied and poised, balancing Chardonnay’s natural breadth with lively acidity and savory tension. Partial fermentation in oak adds texture and complexity without overwhelming the wine’s freshness.
Drink Window: Drink now through 2029. The 2024 is already expressive and should be enjoyed primarily for its youthful fruit, freshness and balance.
Decanting: No decanting is necessary. Serve moderately chilled and allow the wine a few minutes in the glass to reveal its aromatic detail and texture.
Bramìto della Sala offers a compelling middle ground between crisp, unoaked Chardonnay and richer, more overtly barrel-driven examples. It is particularly well suited to shellfish, roasted fish, poultry, risotto and creamy pasta dishes, with enough polish to serve equally well as an aperitif or at the dinner table.
