Tenuta Buon Tempo lies in the southeastern sector of Montalcino, where Sangiovese typically finds ample ripeness while retaining the savory character and freshness central to the appellation. The 2024 Rosso di Montalcino offers a more immediate expression of the estate than Brunello, emphasizing vibrant red fruit, aromatic clarity and approachable structure.
Blend: 100% Sangiovese.
Tasting Notes: Red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry lead the nose, joined by violet, dried herbs and a subtle earthy note. The palate is bright and juicy, with fresh red fruit, gentle spice and savory undertones carrying into a clean, persistent finish.
Structure: Medium-bodied and lively, with fresh acidity and fine, measured tannins framing the fruit. The balance favors energy and drinkability while retaining the savory grip and structure expected of Sangiovese from Montalcino.
Drink Window: 2026–2030. Enjoy young for its vivid fruit and freshness, though a few years in bottle should bring additional savory and earthy nuance.
Decanting: A brief 20–30 minute decant is worthwhile at this young age, helping the fruit and savory elements open while softening the wine’s youthful tannins. Serve slightly below room temperature.
Rosso di Montalcino is an excellent way to experience the character of Montalcino with less patience required than Brunello. Buon Tempo’s 2024 has the freshness for casual drinking but enough structure for the table, making it particularly well suited to pasta with ragù, grilled pork, roast chicken, mushrooms and Tuscan-style dishes.
