Graham’s 2000 Vintage Port comes from a broadly declared Douro vintage distinguished by concentration and low yields, and it remains a particularly strong expression of the house’s rich, generous style. Now more than two decades into its evolution, the wine is beginning to show mature complexity while retaining the depth and structure expected of a serious Vintage Port.

Blend: Traditional Douro red varieties from Graham’s principal estates.

Tasting Notes: Blackberry, black plum and dark cherry remain generous at the core, joined by licorice, rockrose and warm spice. With maturity, notes of fig, cocoa, walnut and dried flowers are beginning to emerge, while the palate remains full and concentrated, with a long finish balancing sweetness, fruit and savory complexity.

Structure: Full-bodied, rich and powerful, with the sweetness characteristic of Graham’s balanced by substantial fruit concentration and persistent tannic structure. Bottle age has softened its youthful grip, but the 2000 retains enough freshness and definition to continue developing gracefully.

Drink Window: Now–2045+. The 2000 is firmly entering its drinking window, offering both mature complexity and considerable remaining fruit. Well-cellared bottles should continue to evolve for many years, moving gradually toward dried fruit, nuts, spice and more tertiary character.

Decanting: Vintage Port throws substantial natural sediment as it matures. Stand the bottle upright before service, then decant carefully in one continuous pour, stopping when sediment reaches the neck; Graham’s specifically recommends decanting the 2000 before serving.

The 2000 Graham’s is an excellent choice when the Port itself is intended to be a feature of the evening—after dinner with Stilton or other blue cheeses, alongside dark chocolate, or simply served on its own. It also has strong anniversary and vintage-year appeal, combining meaningful bottle age with enough remaining longevity to make it equally suitable for drinking or continued cellaring.
