2013 Chateau Latour, Pauillac, Bordeaux - 750ml

89–91 Point Vintage (vintage consensus: a challenging, cooler Bordeaux vintage producing lighter-structured wines best suited for earlier enjoyment, with careful selection critical on the Left Bank).

Château Latour’s rigorous vineyard management and uncompromising selection standards are particularly evident in more difficult years. In 2013, the estate’s precision and discipline resulted in a Pauillac that emphasizes balance, freshness, and classical restraint over sheer power — a more delicate but impeccably composed expression of this First Growth.

Blend: Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and small portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc (classic estate composition).

Tasting Notes: The nose is refined and lifted, revealing blackcurrant, red plum, and cassis layered with cedar, graphite, and subtle tobacco. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and precise, offering fresh dark berries, light cocoa, and mineral undertones. The tannins are fine-grained and measured rather than imposing, with bright acidity carrying through a clean, structured finish.

Structure: Medium-bodied, classical, and balanced with refined tannins and fresh acidity.

Drink Window: 2020–2038

Decanting: Decant 1–2 hours before serving to allow the aromatics to open and the structure to soften. Extended aeration is not required for this vintage.

The 2013 Château Latour reflects the estate’s commitment to quality even in demanding conditions. More restrained and earlier-drinking than benchmark years, it offers collectors a refined, classically styled Pauillac that highlights balance and terroir precision over weight.
