2016 Chateau Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux, Bordeaux - 750ml

96–98 Point Vintage (vintage consensus: a structured, classically proportioned, and exceptionally age-worthy Bordeaux vintage defined by purity, precision, and refined tannic architecture).

Château Rauzan-Ségla stands as one of Margaux’s most distinguished Second Growth estates, celebrated for its ability to combine aromatic finesse with structural depth. In 2016, the château produced a wine of remarkable clarity and poise — capturing the vintage’s power while maintaining the estate’s signature elegance and precision.

Blend: Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, supported by small portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc (classic Margaux composition).

Tasting Notes: The bouquet is lifted and expressive, revealing blackcurrant, dark cherry, and crushed raspberry layered with violet, graphite, and refined cedar. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with exceptional delineation, offering cassis, plum, subtle cocoa, and fine spice. The tannins are silky yet firmly structured, framing the fruit with precision and carrying through a long, mineral-driven finish accented by floral lift.

Structure: Structured, refined, and impeccably balanced with outstanding aging potential.

Drink Window: 2026–2055+

Decanting: If opened in its youth, decant 2–3 hours to allow the tannins to relax and the aromatics to fully unfold. With additional bottle age, a gentle decant for sediment will suffice.

The 2016 Rauzan-Ségla is a benchmark expression of modern Margaux — marrying power with grace in a way that few estates achieve so consistently. A cornerstone vintage for collectors, it promises decades of evolution while already hinting at the layered complexity to come.
