Product Details
Brand: Michel Mallard
From the northern Côte de Beaune, Michel Mallard’s Les Valozières is a classic expression of Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru, combining the appellation’s naturally firm structure with the more open, approachable character of the 2017 vintage. The result is a savory, finely proportioned Burgundy with enough maturity to enjoy now while retaining the backbone for further development.
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry, dried rose, forest floor, and subtle spice lead into a poised palate of red berries, plum skin, savory herbs, and earthy mineral tones. Fine-grained tannins frame the wine without overwhelming the fruit, while fresh acidity brings definition through a persistent, gently spiced finish.
Structure: Firm, savory, and refined, with mature tannins and classic Aloxe-Corton depth.
Drink Window: 2024–2034
Decanting: Decant for approximately 30–45 minutes before serving to allow the fruit and earthy complexity to open. With further bottle age, a careful pour shortly before service should be sufficient.
For Burgundy drinkers who appreciate traditional Côte de Beaune character, this is a compelling bottle to open with roast duck, game birds, mushroom-driven dishes, or simply to cellar for a few more years. Its balance of maturity, structure, and savory complexity makes it especially well suited to an elegant dinner or a thoughtfully chosen special-occasion bottle.
