Zena Crown Vineyard is widely recognized as one of the most distinctive sites in Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills, where cool Pacific breezes flowing through the Van Duzer Corridor create Pinot Noir of tension, structure, and aromatic precision. The “Conifer” cuvée represents a focused expression of this estate vineyard, drawing from carefully selected blocks that highlight the site’s darker fruit profile and forest-toned complexity. The excellent 2021 vintage produced wines of impressive concentration balanced by the freshness that defines the appellation.
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir (estate vineyard selection)
Tasting Notes:
Aromatic and layered, the wine opens with notes of black cherry, wild blackberry, and dark raspberry intertwined with pine needle, crushed herbs, and hints of forest floor. The palate is polished yet structured, revealing dark red and black fruit framed by touches of baking spice, black tea, and subtle mineral tones. Silky tannins and vibrant acidity carry the wine through a long, savory finish.
Structure: Concentrated and structured with refined tannins and energetic acidity.
Drink Window: 2025–2038
Decanting:
Decant for 45–60 minutes in its youth to allow the wine’s aromatics and structural depth to fully unfold. Older bottles will benefit from minimal decanting to preserve delicacy.
With strong critical acclaim and the pedigree of a top Eola-Amity Hills vineyard, the 2021 “Conifer” stands as a compelling collector’s Pinot Noir—offering both immediate sophistication and the potential to evolve gracefully in the cellar for years to come.
