Bruno Desaunay-Bissey works an enviable collection of old-vine parcels across the Côte de Nuits, and Les Beaux Monts is among the domaine’s most compelling holdings. Situated in one of Vosne-Romanée’s distinguished Premier Cru climats, this Vieilles Vignes bottling draws on exceptionally old Pinot Noir vines, bringing natural concentration to a site prized for combining Vosne perfume with finesse and mineral definition.

Blend: 100% Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes: Red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry lead into peony and subtle woodland notes, with anise, savory spice and restrained oak emerging with air. The palate is concentrated without heaviness, layering fine red fruit over a distinctly mineral core before a long, perfumed and gently spiced finish.

Structure: Medium to full-bodied, with old-vine concentration balanced by fresh acidity and finely woven tannins. The 2023 has depth and youthful grip, but the emphasis is on texture, perfume and precision rather than overt power.

Drink Window: 2028–2043. This remains a young Premier Cru and should gain considerably from several years in bottle as the fruit, tannin and oak integrate. The concentration of the old vines gives it the substance for meaningful development beyond its youthful primary-fruit phase.

Decanting: If opening now, give the wine approximately 60–90 minutes of air, preferably in a broad Burgundy decanter rather than through aggressive aeration. Serve around 60–63°F in a generous Burgundy glass.

Les Beaux Monts has the geographical pedigree expected of serious Vosne-Romanée, while Desaunay-Bissey’s very old vines give this bottling an additional point of distinction. The 2023 is a strong cellar candidate for Burgundy drinkers who value perfume and finesse alongside old-vine depth, and an excellent table wine for duck, veal, game birds, mushrooms or simply prepared roast meats.
