Blanc Etc. is an introduction to the singular Sauvignon Blanc style of Domaine Didier Dagueneau, now led by Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau. Produced from the domaine’s Loire Valley vineyards, the cuvée reflects the estate’s emphasis on precision, texture and mineral character. The 2023 vintage brings ripe fruit and a generous mid-palate, balanced by the freshness and definition that distinguish the domaine’s wines.
Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Notes: White peach, ripe pear and green apple are joined by elderflower, fresh herbs and a subtle flinty note. The palate combines orchard-fruit generosity with a finely textured, mineral core, developing savory depth before a persistent, saline finish.
Structure: Medium-bodied and concentrated without heaviness, with lively acidity supporting a supple, layered texture. More restrained and texturally complex than a conventional fruit-forward Sauvignon Blanc, with freshness and mineral tension providing the wine’s shape.
Drink Window: 2026–2033. Already approachable for its youthful fruit and texture, the 2023 should develop additional savory complexity and integration over the next several years.
Decanting: If opening young, allow approximately 20–30 minutes in a decanter or generous white-wine glass to reveal the wine’s aromatic and textural detail. Serve around 50–54°F rather than excessively chilled.
Blanc Etc. offers an accessible introduction to the Dagueneau approach, combining Sauvignon Blanc’s natural freshness with the substance and complexity associated with the domaine. It is an excellent choice for serious white-wine drinkers and particularly rewarding alongside oysters, scallops, grilled fish, roast poultry or Loire goat cheese.
