From the coastal hills of Riparbella in Tuscany’s Val di Cecina, Tenuta Pakravan-Papi’s Prunicce di Riparbella offers a polished expression of Sangiovese with a distinctly Tuscan coastal accent. The 2023 vintage brings together bright red-fruited energy, supple texture, and the added depth of Cabernet, creating a wine that feels both traditional and quietly modern.
Blend: Sangiovese Piccolo with Cabernet Sauvignon; some sources also reference Cabernet Franc.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of sour cherry, red plum, violet, and dried Mediterranean herbs rise from the glass, followed by subtle notes of spice and dark berry. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, with juicy red fruit, a touch of ripe plum, fine tannins, and a gently savory finish that keeps the wine fresh and food-friendly.
Structure: Fresh, polished, and softly structured, with enough grip and depth for short-term cellaring.
Drink Window: 2025–2030.
Decanting: Decant for 30–45 minutes in its youth to allow the fruit and spice notes to open. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 60–64°F, to preserve freshness and aromatic lift.
A refined and versatile Tuscan red, Prunicce di Riparbella is well suited to roast poultry, grilled meats, pasta with ragù, or a relaxed dinner built around rustic Italian flavors. It offers immediate charm with enough structure to reward a few years in the cellar, making it an appealing bottle for both weeknight elegance and thoughtful gifting.
