92 Points – James Suckling.
Il Bruciato is Tenuta Guado al Tasso’s approachable expression of Bolgheri, drawing on the coastal estate’s Cabernet-led character while emphasizing freshness and earlier accessibility. The 2024 balances ripe Mediterranean fruit with savory spice and the supple texture that has made this a particularly versatile introduction to Antinori’s Bolgheri wines.
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
Tasting Notes: Ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum lead the aromatics, joined by violet, sweet spice and subtle Mediterranean herbs. The palate is generous and polished, with dark fruit, touches of licorice and spice, and a fresh, savory finish.
Structure: Medium to full-bodied, with supple tannins and fresh acidity giving shape to the ripe fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon provides definition, while Merlot and Syrah contribute roundness and a softer, more immediately approachable texture.
Drink Window: 2026–2032. Already accessible for its generous fruit and polished tannins, with enough structure to gain additional savory complexity over the next several years.
Decanting: At this youthful stage, 30–45 minutes in a decanter will help the fruit, spice and savory elements open. Serve slightly below room temperature.
Il Bruciato offers a polished introduction to the Cabernet-driven reds of coastal Tuscany without requiring the patience or price of Guado al Tasso’s flagship Bolgheri Superiore. Its combination of ripe dark fruit, supple structure and Mediterranean character makes it particularly versatile with grilled meats, pasta with ragù, roast lamb and aged cheeses.
