91 Points – James Suckling.
Château de Sancerre draws on the appellation’s varied terroirs to produce a classically styled Sauvignon Blanc with both freshness and dimension. The 2024 brings together the mineral character of silex, the citrus-driven profile of terres blanches, and the fruit and structure associated with caillottes, resulting in a bright, balanced expression of Sancerre.
Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Tasting Notes: Fresh and expressive, with gooseberry, lemon and pear joined by white flowers, vineyard peach and a subtle exotic-fruit note. The palate is juicy and energetic, with ripe citrus and orchard fruit framed by a clean mineral character and a persistent, refreshing finish.
Structure: Medium-bodied and precise, balancing brisk acidity with a gently rounded texture. Mineral tension keeps the ripe fruit focused through the finish.
Drink Window: 2026–2029. Drinking beautifully now for its freshness and aromatic clarity, with the balance to develop additional savory and mineral nuance over the next few years.
Decanting: No decanting is necessary. Serve well chilled but not icy, allowing a few minutes in the glass for the aromatics and mineral character to emerge.
A versatile Sancerre that moves easily from aperitif to the dinner table, particularly alongside oysters, shellfish, grilled fish and goat cheese. Its combination of bright Sauvignon Blanc fruit, mineral definition and approachable texture makes it an appealing bottle for both classic Loire enthusiasts and those discovering serious Sancerre.
