Redoma Branco is one of Niepoort’s reference-point dry whites, showing a very different side of the Douro from the region’s richer reds and fortified wines. Drawn from old vines at high elevation, the 2025 emphasizes freshness, mineral tension and the complexity of traditional Portuguese white varieties, with used-oak fermentation adding texture rather than overt wood character.

Blend: Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho, Gouveio and other traditional Douro white varieties.

Tasting Notes: Pear and white peach are joined by fresh herbs, delicate florals and a measured citrus note, with hazelnut and subtle stony nuances developing with air. The palate is dry and precise, balancing restrained stone fruit with firm acidity and a lightly saline, mineral finish.

Structure: Medium-bodied and notably fresh, with high-altitude acidity providing tension through the wine’s textured mid-palate. Fermentation and maturation in used French oak bring breadth and subtle lees complexity without sacrificing the clarity and mineral character at the center of the wine.

Drink Window: Now–2033. The 2025 has the freshness to be highly enjoyable in its youth, but Redoma Branco has enough acidity, old-vine concentration and structural depth to reward several years in bottle as more savory and nutty complexity emerges.

Decanting: No formal decanting is necessary, though the wine will benefit from 15–20 minutes in the glass or an open bottle before serving. Serve around 50–54°F rather than excessively cold to allow its texture and mineral detail to show.

Redoma Branco is particularly compelling for drinkers looking beyond the familiar international white varieties, offering old-vine depth without sacrificing energy or precision. The 2025 is equally at home with oysters and shellfish, simply prepared fish, roast poultry or richer seafood dishes, where its acidity and saline character provide an especially natural fit.
