Founded in 1760 and based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte is one of Champagne’s historic houses, with a style distinguished by Chardonnay-driven precision and restrained elegance. Its Brut Rosé brings together Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims, combining the mineral freshness of the former with the red-fruit depth of the latter. The result is a finely structured rosé Champagne with considerable appeal at the table.
Blend: Approximately 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, with the Pinot Noir component incorporating both red and white vinification.
Tasting Notes: Wild strawberry, red currant and raspberry are joined by rose petals, crisp apple and subtle notes of toasted brioche. The palate is fresh and finely textured, with delicate red-berry fruit, a refined mousse and a lightly chalky character. Gentle savory notes and persistent acidity give the finish definition and length.
Structure: Medium-bodied and precise, with Pinot Noir providing vinous depth and red-fruit structure while Chardonnay contributes freshness and mineral tension. Fine bubbles and vibrant acidity balance the wine’s subtle richness, producing a dry, elegant rosé with notable persistence.
Drink Window: Enjoy now, ideally within 3–5 years of purchase. Delamotte Brut Rosé is approachable upon release, while careful short-term cellaring can bring additional toasted, nutty and savory complexity.
Serving: Serve around 48–52°F in a tulip-shaped Champagne or white-wine glass. Allow a few minutes after pouring for its red-fruit aromatics, mineral character and refined texture to emerge.
Delamotte Brut Rosé is a particularly appealing choice for Champagne drinkers who appreciate finesse, mineral definition and a more gastronomic expression of rosé. Its balance of Pinot Noir depth and Chardonnay freshness makes it especially rewarding alongside tuna, smoked salmon, roast poultry, duck and delicate mushroom preparations.
